Is the CIA behind the uprisings in Syria?  I guess a considered and educated answer is "probably" - certainly Wikileaks has reported that the US government has been covertly funding the Syrian opposition and lets face it, a kick off in Syria wouldn't be that hard to conjure up.  Keep in mind that there are already deep racial and religious not to mention class differences in Syria which makes the divide and conquer that little bit easier.  Of course it is certainly not just going to be the CIA, I am pretty sure we have a good number of British, French and of course Israeli intelligence in Syria who are doing their best to fan the flames of revolution.

The United States is slightly more than ticked off that a Bashir Assad has agreed to a major expansion of the Russian naval base in Tarsus.  Syria has also refused to allow a building of a oil pipeline from Iraq through Syria to the Mediterranean and the Muslim Brotherhood has promised the US government to allow the building of such a pipeline.  How considerate of them, certainly the money that will be generated from the not inconsiderable oil wealth and the pipeline will come in handy when the existing government has gone.

The Western media comes in handy to give lots of biased coverage to any demonstrations, it is also unknown to many that the US State Department might have secretly financed Syrian political opposition groups and related projects, including a satellite TV channel that beams anti-government programming into the country, according to previously undisclosed diplomatic cables.

In February this year al al-Mallohi, a 19-year-old schoolgirl, was brought chained and blindfolded into a special court sparking an outcry and calls for her immediate release from Washington and from human rights groups.  Mallohi has apparently only been seen only twice by her family since she was jailed for - yep you guessed it she was apparently working to pass secrets on to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.  What access to secrets you have as a 19 year old I don't quite know - but she wasn't arrested for her blog, she was arrested for trying to cosy up to a Syrian minister apparently to get information from him?  They may have been able to do better on this one I think - I dont see the CIA focusing on 19 year old girls.

Is this true?  I don't know - Do I care - I wouldn't like to be locked away in a Syrian Jail for that much time, and I think the punishment (Like many in the Middle East) is extreme.   Is there any direct evidence of the CIA being involved in Syria - Well there was some rumblings of a group of foreigners shooting into a demonstrating crowd - There are now two sides to this argument - Agent Provocateur of the CIA or Baddy Syrian Soldiers.   My opinion is split - could have been either.  Although I will let you watch the video and make up your own mind. Apparently these rather sexy guns are a bit hard to get hold of in Syria, nice forward roll....

What I do know is the following -

1) Does Syria deserve the right to have free and democratic elections - YES of course they do. 

2) Will they get them under the current Syrian leadership - NO (Don't be silly)

3) Will they get them under a new puppet government supported and propped up by the west - NO (Don't be silly)

4) Will the USA and the EU get its shiny new oil pipeline - YES for shit sure that's going to happen.  We need it - we are almost out of it as it is and if we don't get it some other bugger will have it all.  Don't think that's going to effect you?  That would be ill informed.   Take this summary from Black Gold Stranglehold - Not the best book in the world but certainly informing.

So who would you rather have to control the world - The Syrians or the USA or would you rather we all just get along share the resources and try to stop killing each other?  Now I sound misinformed. Or am I ? Enjoy the video....
